Don't Yank on the Udder...

I love the irreverent blog Violent Acres, and usually like what VA has to say on whatever topic she decides to write about. Between the profanity, often she is insightful, interesting and funny. But in one recent blog posting, she totally missed the point and misplaced the blame. Unfortunately, many people in the world make the same mistake.

In the post I stumbled upon, VA discusses how a pro-life nurse ruined a child's life. The post is very, very graphic and contains a lot of tragic things that were done to this young girl, so if you don't want to read the post, The Most Merciful Death is Baby Death, I'll summarize it here. A young woman finds out she is pregnant. She tells her boyfriend and they, both being losers, decide to abort. The girl goes to the doctor and a pro-life nurse convinces her that she should keep the baby. They have the baby, a girl, but she and her boyfriend are devil worshipers and subject the young girl to cruel rituals that are too disgusting to discuss here. She was eventually taken away from them, but was never able to adjust to a normal life or regular people. After threatening the lives of several other children and being bandied about from one foster home to another, she ultimately committed suicide shortly after her sixth birthday.

Undeniably, this little girl had a horrible life. Really, she never should have been born, or at least should have been given up for adoption immediately. In this post, VA places the blame on the pro-life nurse for encouraging this girl not to get an abortion.

Uh, excuse me? Where is the blame for the two teens for having sex in the first place? I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Don't yank on the udder if you don't want the milk.

People will have sex and then lament the fact that they end up with an unwanted pregnancy. Hello! Pregnancy is the natural outcome of sex. There are ways to help prevent it, but none (short of vasectomy) are foolproof. If you're going to run around and have sex, you better be prepared for rearing a child.

People are going to blast me for saying this. They're going to say that people need to have sex, that sex is a natural craving that must be satisfied. To that I say: B.S.. No one, no one, ever died from not having sex. Yes, sex is a natural craving (and for good reason). But it's not a craving that must be satisfied for survival. Many people go their entire lives without engaging in sex once, and turn out to be great benefits to society as a whole. Some examples include:

I base the assertion that none of them ever had sex on the fact that none of them were ever married. Of course, that doesn't prove they never had sex, but it doesn't prove the converse either.

No one needs to have sex. People want to have sex. If you yank on the udder, be prepared to get milk.
